Fathom Analytics alternative

What Fathom does well

Fathom is a bootstrapped, owner-operated product that has been shipping for years, and it shows. It is cookieless, it needs no consent banner, and its dashboard is fast and uncluttered. When you email them, the people who built it answer.

If your objection to Google Analytics was privacy and complexity, Fathom already solved that. This page is not arguing that it did not.

The actual difference

Fathom and Staats agree about what to collect. They disagree about how you read it.

Fathom gives you a well-made dashboard and expects you to visit it. Staats has no dashboard, on purpose. Your coding agent connects over the Model Context Protocol, and the analytics arrive in the conversation you were already having about the code.

That is only worth anything if the agent knows more than a query endpoint would:

It remembers your project. Staats stores what each site is for, what your funnel steps mean, and what every event tracks, so a question three weeks later does not start from a blank slate.

It knows what you shipped. Your agent tags each deploy with its commit and the routes it touched, then compares traffic before and after that exact change, and tells you when the difference is too small to trust.

It speaks before you ask. Unusual days, first-time referrers and pages whose share jumped are surfaced on their own, rather than waiting for you to go looking.

What you give up

The dashboard. Fathom's is genuinely nice. There is no equivalent here, and there will not be.

A track record. Fathom has years of it. Staats does not.

Who should not switch

If you open your analytics on purpose, enjoy it, and get what you need from it, Fathom is working and you should keep it. Staats is for the case where you have good analytics and still never look at them.
